Antoinette "Toni" Harris (born July 29, 1996) is an American former college football player. She played as a safety for Central Methodist University. This university is part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Toni made history by becoming the first woman to get a full college football scholarship for a regular playing position. She was also the second woman ever to play football on a scholarship.
Early Life and High School Football
Antoinette Harris was born in Detroit, Michigan. When she was in high school, she played football for Redford Union High School. This school is located in Redford, Michigan.
College Football Journey
After finishing high school, Toni Harris moved to California. She joined East Los Angeles College to play free safety. She played there for two years, from 2018 to 2019. Her coach was Bobby Godinez. Toni was the first woman to ever play football for East Los Angeles College. Her talent led to her receiving six offers to play football at different four-year universities.
Toni later graduated with honors from Central Methodist University. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. She still had a chance to play more football because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Toni has thought about getting a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern California. She plans to keep playing football, even though she hasn't decided exactly how she will use her remaining playing time.
