Toni Tipton-Martin is an American journalist and author. She writes about food and nutrition. She has written several popular cookbooks, including Jubilee. She is also the editor-in-chief for Cook's Country magazine. Toni Tipton-Martin has won important awards for her work. These include the Julia Child Award in 2021 and two James Beard awards.

About Toni Tipton-Martin
Toni Tipton-Martin started her career as a reporter. In the 1980s, she worked for the Los Angeles Times newspaper. Later, in 1991, she moved to Cleveland Plain Dealer. There, she made history as the first Black person to lead the food section of a major U.S. newspaper.
Leading Cook's Country
In 2020, Toni Tipton-Martin became the editor-in-chief of Cook's Country. This is a well-known cooking magazine. Her new role was part of a trend. Many talented Black women were chosen for top jobs at different magazines around that time.
Her Work with Cookbooks
Tipton-Martin's books focus on African American cooking. To write them, she did a lot of research. She studied many old cookbooks written by Black Americans. She even published one of her own books, The Jemima Code, herself. This happened after an agent she was working with disappeared. In 2005, she helped reprint an old cookbook from the early 1900s.
Appearing on TV
Toni Tipton-Martin also appeared on a Netflix show. It was a docuseries called High on the Hog. This show explored the history of African American food. She moved to Baltimore in 2018 with her husband. She is a mother of four children.
