Antonio D. Laxa (born June 12, 1934 – died January 23, 2021), known as Tony Ferrer, was a Filipino actor, film director, and producer. He was famous for playing a spy named Tony Falcon in the Agent X-44 movie series. Because of these films, people called him the "James Bond of the Philippines."
He won the Best Actor award at the Quezon City Film Festival for his movie Sapagkat Sila'y Aming Mga Anak (1970). He was also nominated for a FAMAS Award for Best Actor for his roles in Sabotage (1966) and I Love Mama, I Love Papa (1971).

Tony Ferrer's Acting Career
Tony Ferrer was born in Macabebe, Pampanga, Philippines. His first movie was Kilabot sa Barilan in 1960. In this film, he acted alongside famous stars like Fernando Poe Jr. and Zaldy Zshornack.
Becoming Agent X-44
Tony Ferrer became very well-known for playing Tony Falcon, a spy, in the Agent X-44 series. His first movie as Agent X-44 was Sabotage (1966), which was directed by Eddie Garcia. He made many action movies, including Walang Duwag Sa Kayumanggi (1975) and Jailbreak! (1976). He also starred in drama films like Living Doll (1970).
Working with Other Stars
Tony Ferrer worked with many other actors during his career. He was paired with Niño Muhlach in Wonder Boy (1976). He also starred with Nora Aunor in the movie Sa Lungga ng Mga Daga (1978).
International Films and Directing
Tony Ferrer also acted in movies made outside the Philippines. Some of these international films include The Vengeance of Fu Manchu (1967) with Christopher Lee and Blind Rage (1978). In 1981, he directed his first movie, a musical film called Legs... Katawan... Babae!.
Later Years and Legacy
In 2007, Tony Ferrer made a special appearance as Tony Falcon in the remake of Agent X44. In this action-comedy movie, the main role was played by Vhong Navarro. Tony Ferrer appeared in more than 155 films during his career. This includes the 21 movies in the Agent X-44 series.
Tony Ferrer's Family Life
Tony Ferrer was the younger brother of Espiridion Laxa. Espiridion was a film producer for Tagalog Ilang-Ilang Pictures and EDL Productions.
Tony Ferrer married Alice Crisostomo, who was a beauty queen. They had two children together: a daughter named Mutya Crisostomo and a son named Falcon. He also had a daughter named Maricel Laxa with actress Imelda Ilanan. His grandson, Donny Pangilinan, is also a well-known actor today.
Tony Ferrer's Passing
Tony Ferrer passed away on January 23, 2021, at his home in Pasig. He was 86 years old. He died due to heart problems and complications from diabetes.
