Toonami Jetstream was an online video service for watching cartoons and anime. It was like a special website where you could stream shows from Toonami, a popular TV block on Cartoon Network. Cartoon Network and Viz Media worked together to create it.

The service launched on July 17, 2006. It offered many popular shows that aired on Toonami. You could also find music videos, game reviews, and a place to leave comments. Toonami Jetstream was only available in the United States. To use it, you needed a computer with Windows 2000 (or newer), Mac OS X, and a web browser like Internet Explorer 5.5 or Mozilla Firefox 1.5. You also needed Adobe Flash 9 and a fast internet connection.

Toonami Jetstream stopped working on January 30, 2009. This happened after the Toonami TV block was canceled in September 2008. After Jetstream closed, some shows moved to other places. For example, Naruto went to Cartoon Network Video. Other anime series like Zatch Bell! and Hikaru no Go became available on Viz Media's website. One Piece could be found on Funimation's official website.

What Shows Could You Watch?

Toonami Jetstream showed many different anime and cartoon series. Some were brand new episodes, while others were reruns of shows that had already aired on TV.

Shows That Left Jetstream

Some shows were removed from Toonami Jetstream before they finished. This might have been because of issues with making English versions (dubbing) or for other unknown reasons.

  • The Prince of Tennis (first shown on Jetstream July 14, 2006)
  • Dragon Ball (first shown on Jetstream July 2, 2007)

  • Naruto the Movie 2: Legend of the Stone of Gelel
  • Naruto the Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom

Where Shows Are Now

Toonami Jetstream was special because it was the only place to watch the English versions of some shows like The Prince of Tennis, Eyeshield 21, MÄR, MegaMan Star Force, and Kiba. Many of these shows later got DVD releases. Today, you can stream all 145 episodes of Eyeshield 21 on Crunchyroll.

Other popular shows like Naruto were available on Jetstream as reruns. You can now find Naruto episodes on DVD and streaming services like Crunchyroll.

Many classic shows like Dragon Ball Z, Samurai Jack, and Star Wars: Clone Wars had already finished airing on Cartoon Network before coming to Jetstream. Most of these are now available on DVD or Blu-ray. Some, like Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball, can be streamed on FunimationNOW.

Hikaru no Go was also available on DVD. Pokémon episodes from different seasons were shown on Jetstream as reruns. These are now available on DVD from The Pokémon Company International.

One Piece reruns were on Jetstream. Now, the uncut version of One Piece can be streamed with subtitles on Crunchyroll and with English dubs on FunimationNOW. Zatch Bell! also showed new English episodes on Jetstream.

IGPX finished airing on Cartoon Network. Its DVD sets are still available today. Transformers: Animated aired reruns on Jetstream. New episodes aired on TV, and the show is now available on DVD.

Blue Dragon aired new English episodes on Jetstream at the same time as Cartoon Network. Storm Hawks aired its first season on Cartoon Network. Jetstream had the chance to air season two but never did.

How Jetstream Shared Updates

Toonami Jetstream used a special way to tell fans about new shows. It had an RSS feed on its website. This feed would automatically send updates to your computer. There was also a program called the Toonami Jetstream Desktop Receiver. This program would collect and show updates, making it easy to find new additions. After Jetstream closed, Cartoon Network Video made its own similar desktop program.

Advertising Jetstream

Toonami Jetstream was advertised in a few ways. The Toonami website started promoting the service on July 3, 2006. The first TV ad for Jetstream was shown during Cartoon Planet on July 9, 2006. Fans saw the first ad during the Toonami block itself on July 15, 2006, during a special Naruto marathon.
