Top Class is a fun quiz show from the United Kingdom. It's made for children and shown on CBBC. The show started on September 12, 2016, and is hosted by the funny Susan Calman.
In each series, sixteen teams of four school children compete. These children are usually in Year 6 in England or Wales, or Primary 7 in Scotland or Northern Ireland. Each team also has a teacher helping them out. They answer questions mostly about school subjects. The goal is to find "the UK's smartest school" through a knockout competition.

How the Game Works
Even though many schools can try out, only 16 teams get to be on the show each series. These teams go through auditions to earn their spot. All the students are in their final year of primary school.
Quiz Rounds
The game has different rounds with questions from the National Curriculum. This is what students learn in primary school.
- Buzzer Questions: Each round starts with a question that teams buzz in to answer. The team that answers correctly gets to control the next part of the game.
- Subject Rounds: The team in control then gets four more questions. These questions cover subjects like Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, and even current News.
- Test the Teacher: This is a special round where the team's teacher answers questions. These questions are about popular culture, like movies, music, or TV shows.
- Pet Subjects: Teams also get to pick a subject they are really good at. They then answer questions on that chosen topic. For example, some teams have chosen topics like the CBBC show The Dumping Ground or even big events like a general election.
Special Rounds
Over the years, Top Class has added exciting new rounds:
- Lightning Round: This round was added in Series 3. It's a quick puzzle, like a word search or crossword. Each team gets their own puzzle to solve. It's a chance to score some early points before the main subject rounds begin.
- The Battle of the Buzzers: This is the final round of every game. Teams have 90 seconds to answer as many quick-fire questions as they can. They have to be super fast on the buzzer to win!
