Torger Nergård's Curling Career
Torger Nergård started playing curling professionally in 1987. He usually plays as the "third" on his team. The "third" is a key player who helps the "skip" (team captain) with strategy and throws important shots.
Early Years and Junior Championships
When he was younger, Torger played in junior curling events.
- In 1991 and 1992, he played as the third for Thomas Due's team at the World Junior Curling Championships.
- In 1996, he was the "skip" (captain) of his own team at the World Junior Curling Championships.
Olympic Gold and European Success
Torger Nergård was an alternate player for Pål Trulsen's team. An alternate player can step in if another player cannot play.
- This team won the gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
- They also won gold at the 2005 European Curling Championships.
Playing with Team Ulsrud
Torger Nergård played with Team Thomas Ulsrud for many years. He played different positions, including lead, second, and third.
- With Team Ulsrud, he won six events on the World Curling Tour.
- They also earned four medals at the European Curling Championships. These included silver medals in 2007 and 2008, and bronze medals in 2002 and 2009.
- The team won three bronze medals at the World Curling Championships in 2006, 2008, and 2009.
- A big achievement was winning a silver medal at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Leading the Team in 2010
In 2010, Torger Nergård became the skip for his team at the World Curling Championship in Italy. This happened because Thomas Ulsrud had to go home for family reasons.
- Team Nergård played very well and won a silver medal.
- They had exciting wins, like beating Canada's Team Kevin Koe 9-8. This win helped Norway finish first in the early rounds.
- They also beat Scotland's Team Warwick Smith 9-7 in the semi-final.
- Torger said it was not easy without Ulsrud, but they showed they could play well. He mentioned that Norway is a small country with fewer curlers compared to Canada.
Special Award for Sportsmanship
At the end of the 2010 World Championship, Torger Nergård received the Colin Campbell Memorial Award.
- This award is given to a player who shows great skill, honesty, fair play, friendship, and sportsmanship.
- It is a special honor given by other curlers.
Continued Success After 2010
After 2010, Team Ulsrud did not win more medals at the World Championships. However, they continued to do very well in Europe.
- They won gold medals back-to-back at the European Curling Championships in 2010 and 2011.
- They also won a silver medal in 2012.
Torger Nergård's Personal Life
Torger Nergård is married to Marianne Rørvik, who is also a curler. They have two children. Outside of curling, Torger works as an engineer.
