Toshiya Ishii (born January 19, 1978) is a former Japanese football player. He was known for playing as a midfielder.

Toshiya Ishii's Football Journey

Toshiya Ishii was born in Fujieda, Japan, on January 19, 1978. After finishing high school at Shizuoka Gakuen High School, he started his professional football career.

Starting with Urawa Reds

In 1996, Toshiya Ishii joined J1 League club Urawa Reds. He quickly became an important player for the team. By 1998, he was a regular starter. He played as a defensive midfielder, helping to protect his team's goal. He played many matches for Urawa Reds for a long time. However, in 2002, he started to play less often.

Moving to New Teams

In 2003, Ishii moved to Vegalta Sendai. He was a regular player there in 2003. But in 2004, his playing time decreased again. The next year, in 2005, he joined Kyoto Purple Sanga. This club later changed its name to Kyoto Sanga FC.

At first, he didn't play much for Kyoto. But from late 2006, he became a regular player once more. In 2008, new players joined the club. This made it harder for Ishii to get playing time.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2009, Toshiya Ishii moved to Roasso Kumamoto. He played regularly for this team. However, at the end of the 2009 season, the club decided to bring in younger players. So, Ishii left the team.

In 2010, he joined Fujieda MYFC. This was his local club, playing in the Regional Leagues. He continued to be a regular player there. His team, Fujieda MYFC, was promoted to the Japan Football League in 2012. Toshiya Ishii played until the end of the 2013 season. After that, he retired from playing professional football.
