Toshiyuki Abe (阿部 敏之, Abe Toshiyuki, born August 1, 1974) is a former professional Japanese football player. He was a Midfielder during his career.

Toshiyuki Abe's Football Journey

Toshiyuki Abe was born in Saitama, Japan, on August 1, 1974. He became a professional football player. He played for several teams in Japan's top leagues.

Starting His Career: Kashima Antlers

Abe began his professional journey with Kashima Antlers in 1995. He had played for Teikyo High School and briefly attended University of Tsukuba before joining the team. In his first year, he played in many matches.

However, in 1996 and 1997, he didn't get to play as much. During 1997, he also played for CFZ on loan. From 1998, he started playing more often. His team, Kashima Antlers, even won the J1 League in 1999. They also reached third place in the 1998–99 Asian Cup Winners' Cup.

Moving to Urawa Reds

In 2000, Abe moved to Urawa Reds. This team was from his hometown area. They had just moved down to the J2 League. Abe played a lot of games for them. Because of his help, Urawa Reds quickly moved back up to the J1 League within a year.

However, in 2002, he played less for Urawa Reds.

New Teams and Challenges

In September 2002, Abe joined Vegalta Sendai. This team had just been promoted to the J1 League. He played for them for two seasons. Unfortunately, Vegalta Sendai was moved down to the J2 League at the end of the 2002 season.

In 2004, he moved to another newly promoted J1 team, Albirex Niigata. But he faced an injury and could not play any matches for them.

Returning Home and Retirement

In 2005, Toshiyuki Abe returned to his first club, Kashima Antlers. He played eight more games for them. At the end of the 2005 season, he decided to retire from professional football.
