Toston is a small community in Broadwater County, Montana, in the United States. It's called a "census-designated place" (CDP) because it's a special area defined for counting people. In 2020, about 100 people lived there.

A Look at Toston's Past
Toston was named after Thomas Toston. He moved to the area in 1871. He started a ferry service across the Missouri River. This ferry helped people cross the river easily.
A post office opened in Toston in 1882. This made it easier for people to send and receive mail. From 1883 to 1899, a company called Toston Smeltering Company operated here. They used a special process called smelting to get gold and silver from rocks.
Where is Toston Located?
Toston is located right next to Montana Highway 287. This highway helps people travel to and from the community. The famous Missouri River also flows right by the town.
The United States Census Bureau says that Toston covers about 7.3 square kilometers (2.8 square miles). Most of this area is land, about 6.7 square kilometers (2.6 square miles). The rest, about 0.6 square kilometers (0.2 square miles), is water.
