Toy Show The Musical is a fun new musical! It's based on the super popular TV show, The Late Late Toy Show. Ireland's national TV channel, RTÉ, created this show. The musical tells the story of Nell Mooney, a twelve-year-old girl. You'll follow her exciting adventure as she and her family get ready for the famous Toy Show.

The musical first opened at the Convention Centre in Dublin on December 10, 2022. It ran for a few weeks, ending on December 31, 2022.

How the Musical Started

On May 13, 2022, RTÉ shared exciting news. They announced their first-ever Christmas musical. It was called Toy Show The Musical. The show would open in Dublin in December 2022.

Soon after the announcement, they started looking for actors. Girls aged 11 to 16 were invited to try out. They were looking for someone to play the main character, Nell.

The full cast was announced in October and November 2022. Many well-known actors joined the show. Some came from popular TV series like Derry Girls and Fair City. Three different girls would share the role of Nell.

The idea for the musical came up before the COVID-19 pandemic. Producers Jane Murphy and Katherine Drohan worked on it. They planned the show over two years.

Who Created the Show

In May 2022, RTÉ announced their plans. They wanted to create a musical based on The Late Late Toy Show. They brought together a talented team.

Lisa Tierney-Keogh wrote the story. Séimí Campbell was the director. RuthAnne Cunningham and Harry Blake wrote the music. Sarah Travis helped with the music and orchestra. James Cousins created the dances. Colin Richmond designed the sets and costumes.

The musical opened at the Convention Centre. The first official show was on December 10, 2022. It ran until December 31, 2022.
