Tracy Reese grew up in Detroit, Michigan. She went to Cass Technical High School. From a young age, she loved making clothes. She often sewed alongside her mother. They would sit side by side at their own sewing machines.
In 1982, Tracy moved to New York City. She wanted to study fashion design there. She attended the Parsons School of Design. She finished her degree quickly in 1984. Tracy also created other clothing lines. These include Plenty, which started in 2000, and Frock!, which began in 2006. These lines offer clothes at more affordable prices. Plenty also focuses on items for your home. In 2009, she launched Tracy Reese Black Label.
