Playing Travian
Travian is a strategy game where you manage resources, build up your village, and interact with other players. You need to make smart choices to grow your power. The game runs in real-time, meaning things happen even when you are not logged in.
Your Village and Resources
Every player starts with a small village. Around your village, you will find fields that produce four main resources:
- Wood: Used for many buildings and units.
- Clay: Important for construction.
- Iron: Needed for stronger buildings and troops.
- Crop: Feeds your villagers and soldiers.
You need to upgrade these fields to produce more resources. You also build different structures inside your village. These include resource storage buildings, barracks for training soldiers, and a marketplace for trading.
Different Tribes
When you start playing Travian, you choose one of three ancient tribes:
- Romans: They are good at building and have strong, well-rounded soldiers. They can build a field and a building at the same time.
- Gauls: These are a peaceful tribe, but they are also very fast and have good defenses. Their traps can catch enemy soldiers.
- Teutons: They are known for their strong attacking units and their ability to raid other villages for resources.
Each tribe has unique buildings and special units. Choosing the right tribe for your play style is important.
Expanding Your Empire
As your village grows, you can train soldiers and heroes. You can use your army to:
- Raid other villages to steal their resources.
- Attack enemy villages to destroy their buildings or conquer them.
- Defend your own village from attacks by other players.
You can also found new villages or conquer existing ones to expand your empire. This helps you get more resources and train bigger armies.
Forming Alliances
Travian is not just about playing alone. Many players join alliances. An alliance is a group of players who work together. They can:
- Help each other with resources.
- Send troops to defend allies.
- Plan attacks together against common enemies.
- Share strategies and tips.
Being part of a strong alliance is often key to winning the game.
Winning the Game
The ultimate goal in Travian is to build a World Wonder. This is a very expensive and time-consuming project. Many players in an alliance work together to gather the massive amount of resources needed. Once a World Wonder reaches level 100, the alliance that built it wins the game round! After a round ends, a new one usually begins, and everyone starts fresh.
