Daniel Middleton, or DanTDM, thought about writing a book for a long time. He wanted to create a book that he himself would enjoy reading. He felt it was important to give his popular characters from his YouTube videos their own special story.
News that DanTDM was writing a book came out in May 2016. Publishers in the US and UK were very interested in his book. In October 2016, DanTDM promoted his book at the Cheltenham Literature Festival. He was the first author that year to sell out all his tickets for the event!
What's the Story About?
Trayaurus and the Enchanted Crystal follows DanTDM and his scientist friend, Trayaurus. One day, a powerful crystal crashes into The Overworld, breaking into five pieces. DanTDM and Trayaurus quickly learn how strong this crystal is.
They decide to find all the crystal pieces. But there's a problem! Their enemy, Denton, who appears in many of DanTDM's old Minecraft videos, is also trying to get the crystals. Denton wants all that power for himself. DanTDM and Trayaurus know they must find the pieces first to stop Denton from becoming even more dangerous.

The book was very popular in both the United Kingdom and the United States. In the UK, Trayaurus and the Enchanted Crystal was the number one bestseller for three weeks.
In the US, the book reached the twenty-third spot on USA Today's Best-Selling Books list. It also hit the number one spot on The New York Times Best Seller list for hardcover graphic books. It stayed at the top for an amazing eleven weeks in a row!
