Daniel Robert Middleton (born November 8, 1991) is a famous British YouTuber, gamer, and author. Many people know him as DanTDM. He used to be called TheDiamondMinecart. He is most famous for his "Let's Play" videos. These videos show him playing games like Minecraft, Roblox, Pokémon, and Five Nights at Freddy's.
DanTDM started his YouTube channel in 2012. As of February 2025, his main channel has over 29 million subscribers. It also has more than 20 billion views. This makes him one of the biggest content creators on YouTube.
He began his YouTube journey by making Minecraft videos. Later, he started playing other games and making vlogs. DanTDM has also written a graphic novel. He even voiced a character in the UK version of the movie Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018). He has also gone on several world tours with live shows. Daniel Robert Middleton was born on November 8, 1991. He grew up in Aldershot, England. He is the older of two children. His parents divorced when he was young. He went to the University of Northampton to study music production. Before becoming a YouTuber, he worked at a store called Tesco. He once shared that his wife encouraged him to focus on YouTube. This happened when his YouTube earnings matched his job salary.
Dan married his wife, Jemma, in March 2013. Their first son, Asher, was born in January 2020. Their second son, Miles, was born in November 2022. Dan has talked about facing tough times during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
DanTDM's Amazing Career
In 2012, Daniel started his first gaming channel. He called it TheDiamondMinecart. In August 2014, he joined a company called Maker Studios. He later changed his channel's name to TheDiamondMinecart // DanTDM. Then, on December 12, 2016, he changed it again to just DanTDM. Today, he makes his videos from his home studio in Wellingborough. His videos are mostly for children. However, many teenagers and adults also enjoy watching them.
As his first fans grew older, Dan changed his focus. He now makes fewer videos. Instead, he spends more time creating graphic novels and live shows. He also has his own DanTDM merchandise. On October 6, 2016, he released a graphic novel. It was called Trayaurus and the Enchanted Crystal.
