Trebishte Island (which means "Trebishte Island" in Bulgarian) is a small, rocky piece of land in Antarctica. It's about 770 meters (that's like 8 football fields!) long from one end to the other, and 380 meters wide. This island is found in a place called Perrier Bay, which is on the northwest coast of Anvers Island. Anvers Island is part of the Palmer Archipelago, a group of islands near the Antarctic Peninsula.
Trebishte Island is not alone! It has neighbors. To its south, it's separated from Anvers Island by a passage of water about 300 meters wide. To its north, it's separated from Vromos Island by a passage about 220 meters wide.
The island got its name from a settlement called Trebishte in Southern Bulgaria.
Where is Trebishte Island?
Trebishte Island is located in a very cold part of the world, at coordinates 64°25′12″S 63°41′17″W / 64.42000°S 63.68806°W. These numbers help scientists and explorers find its exact spot on a map. It's about 5.07 kilometers east-northeast of a place called Giard Point and 11.45 kilometers south of Quinton Point. British explorers mapped this area in 1980, helping us know more about this icy region.
