Treloar, Missouri facts for kids
Treloar is a small, quiet place in the southern part of Warren County, Missouri. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the larger county government.
What is Treloar?
Treloar is located right on the northern edge of the Missouri River floodplain. A floodplain is a flat area of land next to a river that can get flooded when the river overflows. A small stream called Kochs Creek also flows into this floodplain just west of the community.
You can find Treloar near Route 94, a road that passes just south of the community. The larger town of Warrenton is about twelve miles north of Treloar.
How Treloar Got Its Name
The community of Treloar has had a post office since the year 1897. This means people living there could send and receive mail from that time.
The name "Treloar" comes from a person named William M. Treloar. He was a state legislator. A state legislator is a person who is elected by people in their area to represent them in the state government. They help make laws for the state.
