Michael Verdi (born November 12, 1980 – died June 18, 2010) was an American professional wrestler. He was best known by his wrestling name, Trent Acid.

Trent Acid spent most of his career as a tag team wrestler. He was a key part of The Backseat Boyz with Johnny Kashmere. They wrestled in many independent wrestling groups in America. These included Combat Zone Wrestling and Ring of Honor. He also wrestled on his own for groups like Juggalo Championship Wrestling.

Early Life and Start in Wrestling

Michael Verdi grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was friends with Rocky Ciarrocchi, who later became the wrestler Helter Skelter.

Trent Acid started wrestling when he was only 14 years old. In his early years, he wrestled for independent groups. These shows were mainly in Philadelphia, Delaware, and New Jersey.

Trent Acid's Wrestling Career

Combat Zone Wrestling (1999–2004)

Trent Acid joined Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) in 1999. He often wrestled by himself at first. He later teamed up with Johnny Kashmere to form The Backseat Boyz.

The Backseat Boyz became champions, winning the CZW Tag Team Championship. While part of this team, Trent Acid also won the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship three times. He also won the "Best of the Best" tournament in 2002. In September 2003, Acid won the CZW Iron Man Championship.

Trent Acid and Johnny Kashmere later left CZW. Acid returned briefly in 2004.

Wrestling in Japan (2000–2002)

When he was 19, Trent Acid traveled to Japan. He wrestled for Big Japan Pro Wrestling. This company worked with CZW. Acid won the BJW Junior Heavyweight Championship in 2001. He lost the title in March 2002.

Ring of Honor (2002–2004)

Trent Acid joined Ring of Honor (ROH) in 2002. He and Johnny Kashmere quickly became a top team. They wrestled in many exciting matches.

The Backseat Boyz won the ROH Tag Team Championship. This made them the first team to hold both the CZW and ROH Tag Team titles. They later lost the title. When Johnny Kashmere left ROH, Trent Acid continued wrestling on his own. He challenged Samoa Joe for the ROH World Championship but did not win. Trent Acid's last ROH match was in December 2004.

Pro Wrestling Unplugged (2004–2009)

Trent Acid was a part of Pro Wrestling Unplugged (PWU) from its start in 2004. He wrestled against many top stars. He also had a long rivalry with his old friend, Hellter Skelter. Acid won a "Philadelphia Street Fight" against Skelter in 2005.

After knee surgery, Acid returned to PWU in 2008. He later became a co-owner of the company with Johnny Kashmere.

WWE Appearance (2006)

Trent Acid made one appearance for WWE in 2006. He wrestled in a special match before a TV show. He teamed with Bison Bravado, but they lost.

Juggalo Championship Wrestling (2006–2007)

Trent Acid joined Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW) in 2007. He played the part of an arrogant priest. He often spoke against the fans and the company.

Acid won a "Battle Royal" to become the top challenger for the JCW Heavyweight Championship. He defeated Corporal Robinson to win the title. Corporal Robinson later won the championship back in a Steel Cage match.

Later Career (2007–2010)

In 2007, Trent Acid wrestled in England. In 2008, he wrestled in Spain. He took a break from wrestling from July 2008 to May 2009. He then wrestled for Fight The World Wrestling and National Wrestling Superstars.

Return to Combat Zone Wrestling (2008–2009)

Trent Acid returned to CZW on June 14, 2008. He wrestled the World Champion, Nick Gage. He made a full-time return to CZW in April 2009. His last match for CZW was in October 2009.

Return to Juggalo Championship Wrestling (2009–2010)

Acid returned to JCW in 2009. He teamed with the Alter Boys. They lost to a team called the Juggalo World Order. His last match in JCW was in March 2010.

Death and Legacy

Michael Verdi passed away on June 18, 2010, at his home in Philadelphia. He was 29 years old.

Many wrestling companies honored Trent Acid after his death. Both Ring of Honor and Combat Zone Wrestling held ten-bell salutes. A special show called Acid-Fest: A Tribute to Trent Acid was held in Philadelphia. This show raised money for his family. During the event, Trent Acid was added to the Hardcore Hall of Fame.

Trent Acid was also featured in a documentary film called Card Subject to Change. The movie was about independent wrestling. It was dedicated to his memory.
