Trevor Bryan was born on August 23, 1989, in Albany, New York. He started boxing when he was 11 years old. Even though his amateur career was short, it showed he had a lot of talent.
He is trained by Stacey McKinley, who also used to train the famous boxer Mike Tyson. Trevor Bryan's fights are promoted by Don King, a well-known boxing promoter.
Trevor Bryan's Professional Boxing Journey
Trevor Bryan began his professional boxing career in May 2011. His first win was against Demarcus Young in Hollywood, Florida. Bryan won by a "Retirement" (RTD) in the second round. This means his opponent stopped fighting.
In August 2015, Bryan had an exciting fight against Derric Rossy in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bryan knocked Rossy down in the first round. The fight was very competitive and thrilling until the very end. Bryan won this fight and earned the WBC-NABF Junior heavyweight title.
Later, Bryan fought BJ Flores, who had previously challenged for a cruiserweight title. Bryan won this fight too, which made him the WBA interim heavyweight champion.
Becoming a Heavyweight Champion
Trevor Bryan was supposed to fight Mahmoud Charr for the WBA (Regular) heavyweight title in January 2021. However, Charr could not travel to the United States for the fight. This was because he did not have a valid visa.
Because Charr had not fought for a long time, the title was taken away from him. So, Bryan instead fought Bermane Stiverne for the empty title. Bryan showed his strength by knocking Stiverne down twice. He won the fight in the eleventh round by a "technical knockout" (TKO). This made Trevor Bryan the WBA (Regular) heavyweight champion.
Losing the Title
Trevor Bryan defended his WBA (Regular) heavyweight title against Jonathan Guidry in January 2022. He won that fight by a "split decision" (SD), meaning the judges had different opinions but most agreed he won.
However, Bryan lost his championship title on June 11, 2022. He was defeated by Daniel Dubois by knockout (KO) in the fourth round. This fight took place at Casino Miami in Florida.
