Trina McGee went to Howard University in Washington, D.C.. Her parents hoped she would become a lawyer or a doctor. However, after studying psychology for two years, she decided to become an actress instead.

Early Roles
Trina McGee started her acting career in a play called Club Twelve. This was an Off-Broadway production, meaning it was shown in smaller theaters in New York City.
Boy Meets World
After some small movie roles and guest appearances on other TV shows, Trina McGee got her first big TV role. In 1997, she began playing Angela Moore in Boy Meets World. Her character, Angela, had a relationship with Shawn Hunter, played by Rider Strong. This kind of relationship was not very common on major TV shows at that time, especially for a show watched by teenagers.
Trina McGee shared that young fans really liked Angela and Shawn's relationship. They often asked when the characters would get back together after a breakup. She hoped their story would show the importance of diversity to the world. In 2015, she played Angela Moore again in one episode of the show's sequel, Girl Meets World.
In June 2020, Trina McGee talked about some difficult experiences she had while working on Boy Meets World. She mentioned that she has since resolved these issues with one of the people involved, Will Friedle.
