High School Football Journey
Trinton Sturdivant went to Anson High School in Wadesboro, North Carolina. There, he was an amazing offensive lineman. An offensive lineman helps block defenders so their teammates can run with the ball or throw it.
He was named an All-State player, which means he was one of the best in his state. SuperPrep and USA Today also recognized him as an All-American. This means he was considered one of the top high school players in the entire country! He even got to play in the special U.S. Army All-American Bowl game.
Experts from Rivals.com thought Trinton was a four-star recruit. This is a high rating for young players. They ranked him 14th among all offensive guard players in the nation.
College Football Career
Starting Strong at Georgia
In 2007, Trinton joined the University of Georgia Bulldogs as a true freshman. This means it was his very first year in college. He immediately became a starter, playing in all 13 games as the left tackle. He was the first true freshman to start at this important position in a season opener since 1989!
Because of his great performance, he earned Freshman All-American First Team honors. This award came from Scout.com and Rivals.com, showing he was one of the best new players in college football.
Dealing with Injuries
Unfortunately, Trinton faced many challenges with injuries. He missed the entire 2008 season. This happened after he hurt his left knee badly during a practice game. He needed surgery to fix a torn anterior cruciate ligament, which is a major knee injury.
He tried to come back for the 2009 season. He played in the first game against Oklahoma State. But sadly, he reinjured the same left knee during that game. Because of this, he had to sit out the rest of the season.
The Famous "Gator Stomp"
Trinton is also remembered for a fun moment during the 2007 Florida-Georgia football game. After the Georgia team scored their first touchdown, they all ran onto the field to celebrate. Trinton was seen dancing right in front of the Florida players! This celebration became known as the "Gator Stomp." Georgia went on to win that game with a score of 42-30.
