The Episynlestes cristatus is a type of Australian damselfly. It is often called a tropical whitetip because of its white markings. This amazing insect belongs to the Synlestidae family.
This damselfly is found only in one special place: north-eastern Queensland, Australia. When an animal or plant is found only in one area, it is called endemic. The tropical whitetip lives near streams in beautiful rainforests.
About the Tropical Whitetip
The Episynlestes cristatus is a large and very thin damselfly. Its body is a dull bronze-black color. It has cool white markings that stand out. You can often spot this damselfly resting with its wings spread wide open. This is a common way to tell it apart from other insects.
