Troy Williams (born December 30, 1994) is an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Indiana University.

High School Basketball Journey
Troy Williams started his high school basketball career at Phoebus High School in Hampton, Virginia. For his final year, he moved to Oak Hill Academy.
During his senior year (2012–13), he was a star player. He scored about 16 points and grabbed 7.5 rebounds per game. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Virginia. Troy helped Oak Hill Academy achieve an impressive 34–5 record. They even made it to the National High School Invitational tournament.
College Career at Indiana
Troy Williams played college basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers.
Freshman Year Success (2013–14)
As a freshman, Troy started all 32 games for Indiana. He averaged 7.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He was recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week in March 2014.
Sophomore Season Highlights (2014–15)
In his second year, Troy played in 32 games and started 28 of them. He led his team in rebounds, averaging 7.4 per game. He also scored 13.0 points per game. He earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors in December. At the end of the season, he was named honorable mention All-Big Ten.
Junior Year and NBA Draft (2015–16)
For his junior year, Troy continued to shine. He played in 35 games, starting 34. He averaged 13.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. His strong performance earned him a spot on the third-team All-Big Ten.
After his junior season, Troy decided to enter the NBA draft. This meant he would not play his final year of college basketball.
Professional Basketball Journey
Troy Williams began his professional career in 2016. He has played for several teams in the NBA and other leagues around the world.
Memphis Grizzlies (2016–2017)
After the 2016 NBA draft, Troy joined the Phoenix Suns for the Summer League. He then signed with the Memphis Grizzlies. He made his NBA debut in October 2016. During his time with the Grizzlies, he also played for their minor league team, the Iowa Energy.
Iowa Energy (2017)
In February 2017, Troy joined the Iowa Energy. He showed off his amazing athletic skills by winning the 2017 D-League Dunk Contest!
Houston Rockets (2017–2018)
Troy signed with the Houston Rockets in March 2017. He was also assigned to their minor league team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. In April 2017, he had a fantastic game against the Phoenix Suns, scoring a career-high 21 points. He stayed with the Rockets until February 2018.
New York Knicks (2018)
In February 2018, Troy signed with the New York Knicks. He played for them until April, when he had to miss the rest of the season due to an injury.
Sacramento Kings (2018–2019)
Troy signed with the Sacramento Kings in October 2018. He also played for their G League team, the Stockton Kings.
Playing in Italy (2019–2020)
In December 2019, Troy moved to Italy to play for Carpegna Prosciutto Basket Pesaro. He played there until March 2020, when the season was stopped due to the global pandemic.
Playing in Taiwan (2021–2022, 2024)
Troy then played for the Taoyuan Leopards in Taiwan from 2021 to 2022. He later returned to Taiwan in 2024 to play for Taiwan Beer.
Blackwater Bossing (2023)
In February 2023, Troy joined the Blackwater Bossing in the Philippines. In his very first game, he scored an incredible 55 points!
Gladiadores de Anzoátegui (2023)
Later in 2023, Troy played for the Gladiadores de Anzoátegui team.
Venados de Mazatlán (2025–)
As of 2025, Troy Williams is playing for the Venados de Mazatlán team.
Personal Life
Troy was raised by his mother, Patty. His guardian and uncle, Marcellus Spencer "Boo" Williams Jr., also played college basketball. His uncle runs a famous basketball program and invitational tournament in Hampton, Virginia.
