The Railroad Connection

Truesdell was once an important stop on the Milwaukee Road railroad line. This was a main railway that connected cities like Chicago, Illinois to other places. While passenger trains stopped coming to Truesdell in 1945, some parts of the railway are still used today by the Canadian Pacific railroad for moving train cars around.

The Truesdell Post Office Story

For many years, Truesdell had its own post office. This post office first opened in 1870. A special part of its history involves Mrs. Jennie H. Alsted, who was the postmistress. She ran the post office for 31 years right from the back porch of her own home! The Truesdell post office eventually closed its doors on May 1, 1953.
