Tsuyoshi Tanikawa (谷川 烈, Tanikawa Tsuyoshi, born April 25, 1980) is a former Japanese football player. He was born in Shizuoka, Japan, on April 25, 1980. Tsuyoshi played as a Midfielder during his career. He spent his time playing for several different clubs in Japan.

Tsuyoshi Tanikawa's Football Journey

Tsuyoshi Tanikawa started his football career in 1999. He joined Shimizu S-Pulse, a team in Japan's top football league, the J1 League. On March 27, 1999, he played his first game as a left side back. This was against a team called Kashiwa Reysol.

Playing for Different Teams

Even though he started with Shimizu S-Pulse, Tsuyoshi did not play many games there until 2001. In August 2001, he moved to Ventforet Kofu. This team was in the J2 League, which is Japan's second-highest football league. At Ventforet Kofu, he played as a center back and was on the field for every game.

In 2002, Tsuyoshi returned to Shimizu S-Pulse. However, he still found it hard to get playing time. So, in 2003, he decided to move to the United States. There, he joined a team called New Hampshire Phantoms.

Returning to Japan

After playing in the United States, Tsuyoshi came back to Japan in 2004. He joined another J2 League team, Mito HollyHock. Again, he did not play many matches for this club.

In 2005, Tsuyoshi made another move. He joined FC Machida Zelvia, a team in the Japanese Prefectural Leagues. These are lower-level leagues in Japan. At FC Machida Zelvia, he played in many games. His team did very well and was promoted to the Japanese Regional Leagues in 2006. Tsuyoshi continued to play for FC Machida Zelvia until the end of the 2007 season. After that, he retired from playing professional football.
