It was a great goal from outside the penalty box against West Ham United. Tugay quickly became a favorite among Blackburn fans. He was a very important player for the team. He missed Blackburn's League Cup final win in 2002 because he was suspended. In the 2003–04 season, Tugay was named Blackburn's Player of the Year.
