Tuixent (pronounced too-SHEN) is a small village located in the beautiful region of Catalonia, Spain. It is part of a larger area called the municipality of Josa i Tuixén. This charming village sits high up in the mountains, at an elevation of 1,225 meters (about 4,019 feet) above sea level.
For many years, Tuixent was its own independent town with its own local government. However, in 1973, it joined with another nearby village called Josa de Cadí. Together, they formed the new municipality of Josa i Tuixén. This change helped them work together on important things for both communities.
Where is Tuixent Located?
Tuixent is found in the northern part of Spain, within the autonomous community of Catalonia. This area is known for its stunning natural landscapes, including mountains and valleys. The village's high elevation means it offers amazing views and a cooler climate, especially during the summer months.
A Look at Tuixent's History
Before 1973, Tuixent had its own separate local government. This meant the people of Tuixent made decisions about their village independently. When it merged with Josa de Cadí, it became part of a larger administrative unit. This kind of merger often happens to help smaller communities share resources and manage services more efficiently.
