Tullibole Castle is an old castle from the 1600s. It stands in Crook of Devon, a small village in Scotland. A man named John Halliday built it in 1608. Today, the Moncrieff family owns this historic building. In 1971, Tullibole Castle was named a Category A listed building. This means it is a very important historical building in Scotland.
A Look Back in Time
People first found signs of a building here way back in 1304. The castle you see now started as a tower house in the 1500s. John Halliday bought the land in 1589. He then made the castle much bigger in 1608. Later, in the 1700s, the castle was made even larger. Around 1740, the Moncrieff family took ownership through marriage. The inside of the castle and its gardens were updated in the late 1950s. Around this time, the castle's name also changed to Tullibole Castle.
Remembering the Past
In 2012, something special happened at the castle. The current owner, Rhoderick Moncrieff, put up a memorial. This memorial remembers the Crook of Devon witch trials from 1662. During these trials, some people from the Moncrieff family were involved. They believed 11 people were witches, and these people were sadly put to death. The memorial helps us remember this difficult part of history.

Today, Tullibole Castle is a busy place. It is often used for weddings and other special events. You can also stay there as a guest, as it works as a bed and breakfast. It's a unique place to visit and learn about history.
