Discover Tumalo Falls: A Natural Wonder

Tumalo Falls is a type of waterfall called a "plunge" waterfall. This means the water falls straight down without touching the rock behind it. It's a popular spot for people who love nature and outdoor activities.

Visiting the Falls: What to Expect

The United States Forest Service helps manage the area around Tumalo Falls. It's called the Tumalo Falls Day Use Area. This spot is about 14 miles (22.5 kilometers) from Bend. You can get there by driving on forest roads.

When you visit, you'll find great views of the waterfall. There are also picnic spots where you can eat. A restroom is available for visitors. To use the area, you usually need a Northwest Forest Pass. You can also pay a small fee.

Exploring More Waterfalls on the Trails

A path called the Tumalo Falls Trail starts near the picnic area. This trail leads to a special viewing platform. From there, you can get an amazing look at Tumalo Falls. This platform is only about 0.25 miles (0.4 kilometers) from the picnic area.

The trail doesn't stop there! It continues further upstream along Tumalo Creek. If you walk about 1.25 miles (2 kilometers) more, you will reach another waterfall. This one is called Middle Tumalo Falls. It's a two-part waterfall that is 65 feet (20 meters) tall. There are even more waterfalls upstream along Tumalo Creek and a smaller stream called Bridge Creek. One of these is Bridge Creek Falls.
