Tuntange facts for kids
Tuntange (also known as Téinten in Luxembourgish or Tüntingen in German) was once a small town, called a commune, located in the country of Luxembourg. It was part of a larger area known as the canton of Mersch.
What Happened to Tuntange?
On January 1, 2018, Tuntange joined with another commune called Boevange-sur-Attert. Together, they formed a brand new commune named Helperknapp. This means Tuntange is no longer a separate commune on its own.
Why Do Communes Merge?
Sometimes, smaller towns or communes decide to join together. This can happen for many reasons. Often, it helps them share resources like schools, fire departments, or public services more efficiently. It can also make it easier to manage local government and plan for the future. When Tuntange and Boevange-sur-Attert merged, they created a stronger, combined community.
