Mersch (also known as Miersch in Luxembourgish) is a special area in the middle of Luxembourg. It is called a canton. The main town, or capital, of this canton is also named Mersch.
Mersch is unique because it is completely surrounded by other cantons. This means it does not share any borders with other countries. Only the Luxembourg canton is like this too.
