Tupac Amaru Hunter (born July 25, 1973) is an American politician. He served as a lawmaker in the state of Michigan. He was a member of the Michigan Senate, representing the 5th district. This area includes parts of northwest Detroit, Dearborn Heights, and Inkster. He also held an important leadership role as the Minority Floor Leader.

Tupac A. Hunter grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He finished high school in 1991 at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy. After high school, he went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1995, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. This degree focused on Urban Studies and Public Policy, which is about how cities work and how government decisions affect people.

Later, he continued his education at Oakland University. There, he earned a Master of Public Administration Degree. This type of degree helps people learn how to manage public services and government organizations.

Tupac Hunter's Political Journey

Tupac A. Hunter had a long career in Michigan politics. He was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2002 and served until 2006. In this role, he was the Minority Whip from 2005 to 2006. A "Whip" helps make sure members of their political party vote together on important issues.

In 2006, he was elected to the Michigan Senate. He was re-elected for a second term in 2010. During his time in the Senate, he was the Assistant Minority Leader from 2007 to 2010.
