The Tweed Valley Forest Park is a special collection of forests in the Scottish Borders area of Scotland. It's not just one big forest, but a group of eight different forests. These forests are all managed by an organization called Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS).

The park was created to offer fun outdoor activities for visitors. It's a great place to explore nature and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The forests are spread out along the valley of the River Tweed.

What is Tweed Valley Forest Park?

Tweed Valley Forest Park was officially opened in 2002. It covers a large area, about 64 square kilometers (or 25 square miles). The main goal of the park is to provide places for people to relax and have fun outdoors.

Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) looks after these forests. They make sure the forests are healthy. They also create and maintain trails and other facilities for visitors.

Exploring the Forests

Each of the eight forests in the park has something special to offer. At every location, you'll find a car park. There are also clearly marked trails for walking, running, or just enjoying a stroll.

Some of the forests have even more cool things to do. You might find toilets there for convenience. Many also have amazing mountain bike trails. These trails are perfect for adventure seekers!

The Eight Forests of Tweed Valley

The Tweed Valley Forest Park is made up of these eight fantastic forests:

  • Cademuir
  • Cardrona
  • Glenkinnon
  • Glentress - This forest is also part of the famous 7stanes network. The 7stanes are top mountain bike centres across Scotland.
  • Innerleithen - This is another forest that's part of the exciting 7stanes mountain bike network.
  • Thornielee
  • Yair

If you love biking, Glentress and Innerleithen are especially popular. They have some of the best mountain bike trails in the country.
