What is 2 IFC?
The 2 IFC building is mainly used for commercial offices. This means many different companies have their offices there. It's a very important business hub in Hong Kong. The building is part of a larger complex called the International Finance Centre, which also includes another tower (One IFC) and a big shopping mall.
Design and Construction
The famous architect César Pelli designed the 2 IFC. He is known for designing many tall and impressive buildings around the world. The construction of 2 IFC started in 2000 and was completed in 2003. It has 88 floors above the ground and 6 floors underground. The number 88 is considered very lucky in Chinese culture.
Inside the Building
Inside 2 IFC, you'll find many modern offices. It also has 62 elevators to help people move quickly between floors. The building is home to the headquarters of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, which is like Hong Kong's central bank.
The IFC Mall
Connected to the 2 IFC tower is the ifc mall. This is a large and popular shopping center with many different shops, restaurants, and even a cinema. It's a great place for people who work in the towers or visitors to relax and shop. The mall also has a lovely rooftop garden on Level 4, which is open to the public. It's a nice green space in the middle of the busy city. The first Apple Store in Hong Kong also opened in the IFC mall.
