Tyler Florence (born March 3, 1971) is a famous American chef and TV host. He is known for his many cooking shows on the Food Network.
Tyler studied cooking at the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated in 1991. Later, the university gave him a special honorary degree because of his great success in cooking. Today, he owns and is the main chef at Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco.

Cooking on TV
Tyler Florence has been a host on many popular TV shows. He was a presenter on Globe Trekker and hosted Food 911 and How to Boil Water. He also co-hosted Worst Cooks in America with Anne Burrell.
Currently, he hosts Tyler's Ultimate, The Great Food Truck Race, and Bite Club on the Food Network. Tyler was also a judge on Worst Cooks in America for several seasons. In 2007, he helped host a cooking competition to raise money for the Afterschool Alliance.
Tyler has also appeared on other TV shows. He was on Shaq's Big Challenge and Momma's Boys. He even appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show for a Sandwich Showdown. You might have seen him on The Today Show or The View. Tyler also helps the Afterschool Alliance, which supports after-school programs for kids.
In 2023, Tyler was on the TV show Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. He decided to leave the show during the first episode.
Beyond TV: Documentaries and Podcasts
In 2018, Tyler Florence directed a documentary film called Uncrushable. This film was about the California Wildfires in 2017. It showed real footage from first responders and interviews with people who were affected by the fires.
Tyler also created a podcast called Wolf it Down. On this podcast, he talked to many interesting people from the food and technology worlds. He also appeared as a guest on the Barfly Podcast in 2021.
Tyler's Restaurants
Tyler Florence has opened several restaurants. In 1997, he worked as a chef at Restaurant 147 in New York. In 2008, he planned to open Bar Florence in San Francisco, California.
In 2009, he opened special kitchen supply stores in Northern California. He also created new restaurant ideas for the area. These include Wayfare Tavern in downtown San Francisco and Miller & Lux, a modern American steakhouse. Miller & Lux has a location at San Francisco's Chase Center and another at the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort.
About Tyler's Life
Tyler Florence has three children from two marriages. He has a son with his ex-wife, Christie Leer. He married his current wife, Tolan Clark, in December 2006. They have a son and a daughter together.
In 2007, Tyler and his wife moved from New York City to Mill Valley, which is north of San Francisco. In July 2008, Tyler opened a kitchen store there that was named after him.
