How Tyrrells Started
Tyrrells was started in 2002 by a farmer named William Chase. He lived in Leominster, Herefordshire, in the United Kingdom. William Chase wanted to make crisps using potatoes from his own farm.
Soon after it began, Tyrrells crisps became very popular. They started selling their crisps in Europe. Later, they also began selling them in the United States. Tyrrells has won many awards for how good their crisps taste.
Changes in Ownership
Over the years, Tyrrells has been owned by different companies. In 2008, William Chase sold most of his share in Tyrrells to a company called Langholm Capital. After this, William Chase used his farming skills to start making Chase Vodka.
In 2013, another company, Investcorp, bought Tyrrells. This helped Tyrrells grow even more.
Growing Around the World
In 2015, Tyrrells bought a snack company in Melbourne, Australia. This meant Tyrrells could start making its products right there for the Australian market.
By 2016, Tyrrells was bought by Amplify Snacks, a company from the United States. This was a big step for Tyrrells. It helped the brand become known in many more countries. The company still kept its main office in Herefordshire. Later, Amplify Snacks became part of The Hershey Company.
Finally, in May 2018, KP Snacks bought Tyrrells. KP Snacks is a large snack company. They now own Tyrrells and continue to make its popular crisps.
