KP Snacks Limited is a British company famous for making some of the UK's favorite snacks. You've probably eaten their crisps and nuts, like Hula Hoops, McCoy's, and KP Nuts. The name KP stands for “Kenyon Produce.” The company is based in Slough, England.

From Pickles to Peanuts: The Story of KP

KP Snacks has a long history that started way back in 1853 in Rotherham, England. It began as a company called Kenyon & Son, which made sweets, jams, and pickles.

It wasn't until 1948 that the company started making the snacks we know today. They began roasting and salting hazelnuts and later peanuts. These nuts were first sold in movie theaters for people to enjoy with their films. In 1953, they launched their famous No.1 KP Nuts brand.

In 1968, KP became part of a larger food company called United Biscuits. This is when they started making many other popular snacks, including Skips, Space Raiders, and Nik Naks.

In 2012, a German company called Intersnack bought KP Snacks for £500 million.

Recent Events

In 2022, the company had some computer problems that made it difficult to get snacks to stores for a while.

A year later, in 2023, there were disagreements between the company and its workers about pay. The workers' union, Unite, reported that pay had not kept up with the cost of living.

Where Do the Nuts Come From?

KP Snacks is one of the biggest buyers of nuts in the world. They get their nuts from countries all over the globe, including Asia, Africa, and South America. The company also works on projects to support the local communities where they buy their nuts.
