The Story of Wheat Crunchies

How Wheat Crunchies Began

A company called Sooner Snacks used to make popular snacks like Riley's Crisps and Nik Naks. In 1982, a big company called Rowntree Mackintosh bought Sooner Snacks.

Under Rowntree Mackintosh, Sooner Snacks created and launched Wheat Crunchies in 1987. This was a new and exciting snack for everyone to enjoy!

Changing Owners

Over the years, Wheat Crunchies changed hands a few times. In 1992, Dalgety plc bought Sooner Snacks. The company then became part of Golden Wonder, another well-known snack maker.

Later, in 1995, the people who managed Golden Wonder bought the company themselves. Then, in 2000, a company called Bridgepoint Capital took over Golden Wonder.

In 2006, United Biscuits bought Golden Wonder. Wheat Crunchies then joined KP Snacks, which is part of United Biscuits. Finally, in December 2012, Intersnack bought KP Snacks. So, Wheat Crunchies are now part of the Intersnack family of snacks!

A Fresh New Look

In June 2012, United Biscuits gave Wheat Crunchies a big update. They launched them again with a brand-new logo. The taste was also "improved," making them even more delicious. They even added a new flavour: Cheddar & Onion. The snack pieces also became a bit bigger, which was great news for fans!
