The U.S. Post Office and Customshouse in Everett, Washington was once the city's main post office. It operated there from 1917 to 1964. People also called it the Federal Building. This important building was designed by Oscar Wenderoth. He used a style called Neoclassical. Today, the building is home to the offices of the Chicago Title Company.

What Does the Building Look Like?

This building has two stories. Its front has eight tall columns. These columns are in the Greek Ionic style. The building is made from strong reinforced concrete. It is covered with special stones. These stones include Wilkinson sandstone and granite. The granite came from a place called Index.

A Building with History

The building has had many uses over the years. After being a post office, it housed different government offices. In the late 1990s, the General Services Administration took over the building. They got it ready to sell.

Who Wanted the Building?

The city of Everett wanted to buy the building. They hoped to turn it into a museum. But another group, the Tulalip Tribes, also wanted it. They planned to use it as a post office.

New Owners and Changes

In the year 2000, Henry Cogswell College bought the building. They spent $2 million to make it their main campus. The college used the building for six years. Then, in 2006, the college closed. In 2008, private developers bought the building for $2.4 million. The Chicago Title Company moved into the building in 2009.
