Uchuraccay is a small village high up in the mountains of Peru. It's located in the Ayacucho Region, specifically in the Huanta Province. Imagine a place so high that it's about 4,000 metres (that's over 13,000 feet) above sea level! In 1981, about 470 people lived there.

During the 1980s, Peru faced a period of conflict. This made life very hard for many communities, including Uchuraccay. Because of these troubles, many families had to leave their homes in 1984. The village became empty for a while. However, over time, some families bravely returned to Uchuraccay. They started to rebuild their lives and their community in the mountains.
