About Ugo Sivocci

Joining Alfa Romeo
Ugo Sivocci was good friends with Enzo Ferrari, who later started the famous Ferrari car company. In 1920, Enzo Ferrari helped Sivocci get a job at Alfa Romeo. He joined their special racing team, Alfa Corse, along with Enzo Ferrari and Antonio Ascari.
Sivocci quickly showed his talent. In 1921, he finished second in the Parma - Poggio Berceto race, driving an Alfa Romeo 20-30 ES Sport.
Winning the Targa Florio
The year 1923 was a big one for Ugo Sivocci. He started driving the new Alfa Romeo RL car and won many races. His biggest win was the Targa Florio race. This was a huge success for Alfa Romeo, as their cars also took second and fourth places.
Sivocci's car in the Targa Florio had a special symbol painted on it: a green cloverleaf on a white background. This symbol became known as the "Quadrifoglio Verde" (Green Cloverleaf). It was seen as a good luck charm for Alfa Romeo's racing cars from then on.
A Sad Day at Monza
Sadly, Ugo Sivocci's life ended too soon. Later in 1923, he was testing a new car, the Alfa Romeo P1, at the Monza race track. During the test, he had an accident and passed away.
