Ultimate Cake Off was a fun American TV show on TLC. It was all about amazing cake artists who competed to build huge cakes, some even taller than five feet! These bakers worked with their teams to create incredible edible masterpieces and win a cash prize. The first season, hosted by Michael Schulson, started on August 3, 2009. The second season, with George Duran as the host, began on February 1, 2010. Expert bakers Margaret Braun and Leigh Grode were the judges.

How the Cake Off Works
Each episode of Ultimate Cake Off featured three teams of talented bakers. They had nine hours to create a cake for a special client. The cakes had to be at least five feet tall and contain a certain amount of real cake.
Judging the Cakes
The judges looked at three main things:
- Did the client like the cake?
- How hard was the cake to make?
- Did the cake look amazing?
There was also a taste test! Four judges, including the host, tasted a small piece of each cake. The team that won the taste test got a cool advantage: they could make one of the other teams stop working for 30 minutes! Sometimes, there was also a "skills test" where bakers decorated a small cake for a similar advantage.
After time ran out, each team carefully moved their giant cake to the judging room. The judges then talked about what they liked and didn't like about each cake. The team with the most votes won $10,000! Their amazing cake also got to be shown off at the client's event.
Cool Contestants
One baker named Dana Herbert from Bear, Delaware, was on Season 1. He made a cake for Legoland California but didn't win that time. Later, in 2011, Dana became the first winner of another TLC show called Next Great Baker. After winning, he got to work as an intern for Buddy Valastro at Carlo's Bake Shop.
