Under Wraps is a fun TV movie from 1997. It was the very first Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM)! The movie was directed by Greg Beeman. It stars Bill Fagerbakke, Adam Wylie, Mario Yedidia, and Clara Bryant. This film was also Disney Channel's first movie with a spooky, horror theme. Disney Channel celebrated it in 2016 as one of its 100 original movies.
Story of the Mummy
The movie is about three 12-year-old friends. They find an ancient Egyptian mummy in a strange house. The mummy is in the basement. One night, under the light of the moon, the mummy magically comes to life!
At first, the kids are super scared. But they soon learn that the mummy is actually friendly. He's a bit clumsy and confused, but kind. The children decide to name their new mummy friend Harold. They let him stay hidden in one of their bedrooms.
Saving Harold
The kids visit their friend Bruce, who loves Halloween. They learn something important: Harold must be back in his special coffin, called a sarcophagus, by midnight on Halloween. If he isn't, he will disappear forever!
But there's a big problem. The sarcophagus is with a man named Mr. Kubat. He pretended to be gone to avoid paying his taxes. When Mr. Kubat finds out Harold is missing, he sends his helpers to get the mummy back. He wants to sell Harold to someone!
The kids must keep Harold safe from Mr. Kubat. They also need to hide Harold's unusual look as Halloween gets closer. People might notice a mummy walking around! The friends also discover that Harold used to love another mummy. She even comes to life at the end of the movie!

New Version of the Story
A new version of Under Wraps was made! It was announced in 2020 that a remake would come out in 2021. The new movie stars Christian J. Simon, Malachi Barton, Sophia Hammons, and Phil Wright. The filming for this new movie happened in Vancouver in late 2020.
