The University of Biobío (which in Spanish is Universidad del Biobío) is a well-known university in Chile. It is one of the important Chilean Traditional Universities.

This university carries on a long history of public education in the Biobío Region. It started from the Technical University of the State (TUS) on April 9, 1947. It also grew from the Ñuble Campus of the University of Chile. Later, parts of these universities became what is now the University of Biobío, or UBB for short.

The UBB has campuses in two cities: Concepción and Chillán. It offers 35 different study programs for students getting their first degree. It also has two special bachelor programs. More than 12,000 students attend the university. About 70% of its teachers have advanced degrees, like master's degrees or PhDs.

The University of Biobío has six main departments, called faculties. Each faculty focuses on different subjects and helps students learn and grow.
