University Campus and Museums
In 1962, the science experts from the University of Zürich decided to build a new campus here. This campus is called Irchelpark. Construction started in 1973, and the first buildings opened in 1979. More buildings were added between 1978 and 1983.
The Irchelpark campus isn't just for students! It also has the Anthropologisches Museum, which is an interesting museum about people and their history. You can also find the cantonal Staatsarchiv Zürich here. This is like a giant library that keeps important old documents and records for the canton (state) of Zürich.
Theater Rigiblick: From Restaurant to Stage
Another special place in Unterstrass is Theater Rigiblick. This building has a cool history! It was first built in 1901 as a restaurant called Rigiblick. Later, in 1984, its main dining hall was transformed and reopened as a theater. Now, people can enjoy plays and performances there.
