Uruachi is a town in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. It is located near the border with the state of Sonora. The town's name comes from the Tarahumara language, but its exact meaning is not fully known.
Uruachi is also known as Mineral de Urachi. This name comes from the mining activities that used to happen there. The town serves as the main administrative center, or municipal seat, for the larger area known as the Uruachi municipality.
Town History and Growth
Uruachi was founded a long time ago by Jesuit missionaries. They established the settlement in 1736. Over the years, the town has grown in size. In 2005, Uruachi had a population of 806 people. By 2010, the population had increased to 1,199 people. This shows that more people have chosen to live in Uruachi over time.
