Valdarachas is a small town, also known as a municipality, located in the province of Guadalajara in Castile-La Mancha, Spain. It's a quiet place with a small population. In 2004, a count showed that only 28 people lived there. By 2018, the population had grown slightly to 35 residents.

Understanding Valdarachas's History
Valdarachas has a unique history, especially when it comes to how land and titles were passed down through families. This system was called a "Mayorazgo."
What Was a Mayorazgo?
A Mayorazgo was an old Spanish system. It made sure that certain family properties, like land or titles, would always go to the oldest child, usually the oldest son. This kept the family's wealth and power together over many generations. It was a way to prevent large estates from being divided up among many heirs.
The Mayorazgo of Valdarachas
The Mayorazgo of Valdarachas was a special inherited position. It was passed down through a specific family.
Don José de Medrano y Rosales Maldonado y Medrano was born in 1879. He became the ninth person to own the Mayorazgo of Valdarachas. After he passed away, his daughter, Doña María Teresa de Medrano y Rosales, inherited the position. She married Don José María Henríquez de Luna y Baillo in 1949. Doña María Teresa then became the tenth owner of the Mayorazgo of Valdarachas. This shows how the Mayorazgo system kept the ownership within the same family line for a long time.
