Van, Missouri facts for kids
Van is a small, unincorporated community located in Polk County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or businesses that isn't officially part of a town or city. It's about seven miles southeast of the larger town of Bolivar. You can find Van along Missouri Route YY. A small stream called Deer Creek flows right past the east side of the community.
History of Van
The community of Van got its name from a person! It was named after Van Burnes, who was the son of the person who originally owned the land where Van is now located.
A post office was opened in Van in 1899. A post office is a place where you can send and receive mail. This post office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1934.
