Early Life and Education
Vanessa D'Ambrosio was born in Borgo Maggiore, a town in San Marino. After finishing school, she went to the University of Bologna in Italy. There, she studied about how countries' economies work. Her grandfather, Francesco Berti, was also an important person in San Marino's history. He helped start a political party there.
Her Political Journey
Vanessa D'Ambrosio started her political career by being elected to the Grand and General Council in 2014. This Council is like San Marino's parliament, where laws are made. She became a leader for a political group called the United Left.
Becoming Captain Regent
In 2017, Vanessa D'Ambrosio became a Captain Regent of San Marino. This is a very special leadership position. She was one of the youngest women ever to hold this role in San Marino's history. Only Maria Lea Pedini-Angelini was younger when she became Captain Regent at age 25.
Working for Europe
Before becoming Captain Regent, Vanessa D'Ambrosio also represented San Marino in the Council of Europe. This is an organization that works to protect human rights and democracy across Europe.
