Early Life and Education
Vasay Chaudhry was born on November 12, 1981, and grew up in Lahore, Pakistan. His family has a history in movies; his grandfather started a famous cinema in Lahore in 1945.
Vasay studied at Lahore College of Arts and Sciences for his A-levels. He later earned a Master's degree in Multimedia Arts from National College of Arts. In 2008, he married Mahera Shah, and they have three daughters.
Career Highlights
Vasay Chaudhry began his career in theater in 1998. He started with a very small role but soon became serious about acting and directing plays. In 1999, he directed an old Urdu play for a theater festival.
His first writing job for television was a sitcom called Jutt and Bond in 2001. He wrote it himself when no one else would. He later said he thought, "How bad could my writing really be?" and decided to try.
After writing many successful sitcoms, he wrote his first long TV series, Dolly ki Ayegi Baraat, in 2010. It was a big hit! Vasay enjoys writing for films and TV shows more than sitcoms now.
Some of his well-known TV shows as a writer include Timmy G, Dolly Ki Ayegi Baraat, Takkay Ki Ayegi Baraat, and Jackson Heights (drama). His first movie script was for Main Hoon Shahid Afridi in 2013, which was also a success.
Vasay has also appeared in TV commercials. For a short time, he wrote reviews and articles about Pakistani media and cinema for newspapers like Herald (Pakistan) and The News.
He believes his goal is to entertain people. He looks up to famous comedy writers like Anwar Maqsood and Mushtaq Ahmad Yusufi. Vasay thinks it's important to create original ideas instead of just copying others.
