About Vasey's Rubberweed
Where Vasey's Rubberweed Lives
This plant mostly grows in the southwestern part of the United States. You can find it in New Mexico. There are also a few places where it grows in western Texas, especially near El Paso.
Vasey's rubberweed likes open spaces. It often grows at the edge of forests. It prefers higher places, usually between 2,100 and 2,800 meters (about 7,000 to 9,300 feet) above sea level.
What Vasey's Rubberweed Looks Like
Vasey's rubberweed is a plant that lives for many years. It can grow up to 60 centimeters (about 2 feet) tall. One plant can have as many as 50 flower heads!
Each flower head has two kinds of flowers. It has 8 to 11 bright yellow ray flowers. These are the petal-like parts you see on the outside. Inside, there are 25 to 80 tiny yellow disc flowers. These are packed together in the center of the flower head.
